Coldingham Priory Community Garden
The Community Garden to the South of the Priory Church is part of the Scheduled Area of historic importance.
The garden receives regular attention from SBC gardening teams and benefits from maintenance efforts from the Friends of the Priory.
When Coldingham Priory grounds were improved and conserved, the preservation of a physic garden was part of the plan. The Friends are working to preserve and develop this aspect of the Community Garden.
We benefit greatly from one of our members, Robert Brand, being expert in this field. He has written a fascinating account of the role of medicinal plants in monastic life and you can download this here.
